Recognizing the need for versatile aid to help families living with AIDS in developing countries, LuminAID is proud to announce a partnership with American Foundation for Children with AIDS (AFCA). The solar start-up will be showcasing the work of AFCA supporting children and families with AIDS in Africa. In addition, LuminAID will be focusing the effort of their Give Light Get Light program on donating lights to AFCA’s work in Kenya, Uganda, and Nepal.

As of January 2016, more than 3 million Syrian children were internally displaced. They need the basics. For Syrian families, aid is not always accessible and rarely sufficient. Even when food and water are provided, other essential needs are left unmet. This is where the Karam Foundation comes in. Their Smart Aid initiative focuses on responding to the local population’s needs by asking one simple question: "What do you need?" Their answer: Light!

Jayne Cagle is one of our favorite people - a lover of life and LuminAID. She is a professional yoga instructor, and uses yoga along with paddleboarding to create a truly unique experience for her clients. We wanted to highlight her story, as she really is an inspiring woman!

This June we partnered with The Dyrt to make the experience of finding a campground better. To improve the camping experience, we gave away $50 gift cards to the top 10 campsite reviewers in Florida. With June behind us, we want to highlight some of our favorite reviews from our contest. At the same time, we want to remind you: we have three more contests this summer.

In May, LuminAID traveled to Las Vegas for Tom Shoes’ Pitch for Good Competition, along with six other finalists. The competition focused on startups who share a vision of a better tomorrow. LuminAID impressed the judges with their mission and social impact, and ultimately won first place!
