A Letter from Andrea Sreshta, LuminAID Co-Founder

Five years ago today, Hurricane Maria struck the island of Puerto Rico, causing devastating damage that has taken years to rebuild. This weekend, nearly 5 years to the day, Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico and left the entire island without power.

In 2017, my co-founder Anna and I flew down to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria and had the opportunity to take part in aid distributions with our charitable partner Convoy of Hope. Today, I am remembering Hurricane Maria, and reminded that disasters like this are exactly why the LuminAID light was invented. It is an honor to be able to assist the incredible nonprofits and community groups who are coming together to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona. You can help us support their work.

While the situation on the ground in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic is evolving, we expect a continued need for LuminAID solar lanterns and phone chargers. We are coordinating with nonprofit partners, and will keep you updated as we have updates on shipments and distributions.

How Can You Help?

You can help us respond by sponsoring light for disaster relief. A sponsorship of $20 will provide a safe, rechargeable Power Lantern for families to charge their phones and connect to loved ones or critical services.

Thank you,
Andrea Sreshta
