Andrea Sreshta and Anna Stork invented LuminAID's solar lighting technology just after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. They were inspired to design a simple, rechargeable light that could be cost-effectively distributed after disasters. LuminAID's solar inflatable light technology is patented in the US, with additional patent applications pending worldwide.
LuminAID lights have been used in more than 100 countries across the world. To date, tens of thousands of LuminAID lights have been distributed to families without electricity after some the world's most devastating recent disasters including Hurricane Maria, the Syrian refugee crisis, and the Nepal earthquakes.
