Chicago, IL. July 30th, 2019 - Solar startup LuminAID is releasing the new way forward for portable yet powerful home lighting. The Bloomio Twist and Bloomio Gem Solar Bluetooth Lanterns feature elegant origami-inspired designs, compatibility with an easy-to-use mobile app, and the ability to form a network of solar lights for a sustainable and stylish lighting solution. The newest innovations from LuminAID signal a new era for the brand as it steps into the home and garden.
LuminAID co-founder Anna Stork is thrilled to release the Bloomio line, which “breaks new ground in solar lighting by incorporating smart technology into a unique, collapsible design.” According to Stork, these lanterns “pave the way for LuminAID’s new niche in homes and gardens while maintaining the company’s commitment to quality."
The Bloomio Twist and Bloomio Gem are the next stage in LuminAID’s pursuit of sustainable lighting solutions, uniting green tech and smart home design. In addition to the lanterns’ sleek design, the company has developed an integrated app to support the Bloomio products that allows users to:
- Change the color and brightness
- Group lanterns together and control them all at once
- Set patterns and schedules
The Bloomio Twist and Bloomio Gem are the first smart solar products from LuminAID to launch following a successful crowdfunding campaign. With the support of 810 backers, the campaign raised over $131,000 to support the line. This pair kicks this series off, and will soon be followed by additional Bluetooth-enabled lanterns that form a network of solar lights connected by the LuminAID app.
The Bloomio Twist and Bloomio Gem were developed by LuminAID, a startup formed by then-graduate students Anna Stork and Andrea Sreshta in response to the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Over the next five years, LuminAID’s contributions to emergency aid captured attention around the globe, including an appearance on ABC’s popular reality show, Shark Tank. Stork and Sreshta pitched the “sharks” and made a deal with billionaire Mark Cuban. LuminAID has only grown since - through LuminAID’s partnerships with nonprofits around the world, over 300,000 lanterns have been supplied to refugees and victims of natural disasters. Now, LuminAID is looking to brighten the home with the customizable, user-friendly, and Bluetooth-enabled Bloomio Twist and Bloomio Gem.
