One year ago, co-founders Anna and Andrea walked into the Shark Tank and introduced LuminAID to the world. It’s hard to believe how much we’ve grown in the last year. None of this could have happened without the incredible energy of our supporters. We want to share with you everything that your support has empowered us to accomplish!

In the last year: 10245 Lights Donated
That’s thousands of families with access to safe and renewable lighting. Since we started LuminAID, we’ve received nearly 20,000 donations and sponsorships. These LuminAID lights have reached those in need in over 60 countries across the world. From Nepal to Venezuela, we’ve worked with partners and volunteers to get light to where it’s needed most. Thank you to everyone who has supported our Give Light Get Light Program to work toward a brighter future.
2 New Products Launched
Helping Families in Nepal
Following the disastrous earthquake in Nepal, LuminAID worked with the organizations including the Nepali Children’s Education Fund, Empower Nepali Girls, and the United Nations Population Fund, responding quickly to get aid to families affected by the natural disaster. We experienced an outpouring of support from our customers, and were able to send thousands of lights to help illuminate temporary homes or provide accessible light to area cut off from electricity.
Lights in Action in Malawi
Co-founders Anna and Andrea traveled to Malawi with partner ShelterBox to distribute lights on the ground. Together with the ShelterBox team, they provided disaster relief kits filled with tents, lights, cookware, and blankets to villages affected by intense flooding in the region. More than 25,285 LuminAID lights have been distributed in conjunction with ShelterBox relief kits.
A few awards along the way...
LuminAID was honored as top-notch creative force at the Chicago Innovation Awards. The team also won recognition from several grants, including selection as 1 of 20 winners (and 35,000 applicants!) for a $100K Chase Mission Main Street Grant. We also put together a video submission and won a MasterCard pitch contest! Co-founder Anna Stork represented the team on several lists recognizing influential young professionals: Forbes' 30 Under 30, and LinkedIn's Next Wave of 150 Professionals under 35. Your support and encouragement made all of this possible.
